I personally would recommend a 0,5 mm roller for home use. Anything approaching 1 mm will require numbing cream and antibiotics afterwards as you will bleed. I do not recommend the use of 1.5 mm needles for home micro--needling, and there is evidence to suggest that 0.5 mm needles can be just as effective, Also, rollers such as the Dermaroller create amore erratic pattern of "tears" through the skin rather than theclean, more evenly distributed punctures seen with motorized micro-needlingmachines.

OK, the technique is very important. Best if someone rolls for you (preferably professional) if not brother, sister, neighbour.... but you need counter traction in some areas and pinching up in others. By stretching your skin and applying firm pressure, it will help. Needle depth is vital....
