Why laser whitening didn't work for me

Some people need more
whitening applications to achieve the same results as other people, simply due
to the anatomy of their teeth and the amount of staining that may have taken
place. Your dentist may have only done 2 applications when 3 or 4 were needed.
Most of the time dentists will now include a complementary whitening tray to
extend your whitening results. I would recommend asking about this if you want
to whiten again, or simply go to the tray from the start.

Why it didn't work for you?  Well, teeth vary in composition based on genetics, environment and habits (smoking, drinking red wine, coffee, other things that stain teeth).  For most people, whitening works, but it is NEVER predictable how white a person's teeth will get.Think of it this way, does everyone tan the same?  Many fair skinned Scandinavians don't tan at all, just get red and burnt in the sun.  Others with olive complexion, tan very easily and quickly.  Get five random people and the end of winter, stick them in the sun for four hours, and then look at the difference in how tan (or not) they get.  Same thing with teeth bleaching.Saying that, there are a number of factors that might give you a better result the next time you try to whiten your teeth.  Different concentrations of bleaching agents, amount of time, whether or not a light or laser was used, etc.However, what you dentist should do is take his shade tabs, measure your tooth color BEFORE the bleaching, again immediately after the bleaching, and then again a week or two later.  The memory of how white or not white the teeth got after bleaching is very subjective, and many patients forget or don't realize how white the process actually got their teeth.  Also, you will get some fading anyway after several months, and most patients have to do some "touch up" six to twelve months afterwards to keep their bleached teeth at the optimal (for them) whiteness.
