Is laser hair removal safe after hernia surgery?

I found this question left unanswered from two years ago, and cannot find the answer anywhere. Can laser hair removal cause damage to the hernia site after surgery with mesh inserted? Three months after hernia surgery, I went in for hair removal, and have had pain at the hernia site just about every day since. Pain was infrequent before the hair removal. Is this coincidence, or damage?

I would say it's coincidence. Laser hair removal only goes to the depth where the hair follicles lie, which is very superficial in the skin. It cannot go into the organs or deeper body tissue where you would have had a hernia or mesh. You could have had someone press very hard on that area while doing the treatment and this may not have been ideal; however, that would have been a temporary bruise and not something that had long term affects. Have you followed up with the surgeon who performed your hernia surgery? That would be the best idea!"This answer has been solicited without seeing this patient and
