Is 3 weeks long enough wait time for EVLT after having breast explant surgery?

Question

Hi I am scheduled to have my breast implants removed via enblock. I was hoping to have EVLT before my surgery but doctor is booked out 4 months. So My question is if I had my explant surgery and waited 3 weeks. Is that a long enough wait to go ahead with the EVLT procedure? I will be 51 years old by the time I have both done. I weigh 127 pounds if that matters

I’ll start by saying I perform both of these procedures. It can always be tricky when scheduling multiple procedures. Since these specific procedures are in different areas of the body, barring any unforeseen problems with your explant procedure, I think it would be fine for you to proceed with the EVLT three weeks later. However, you always want to clear this with your physicians prior to scheduling. Good luck&hellip;.. I’m sure you’ll do great with both.

Recovery from EVLT is usually pretty quick and simple, but the recovery from explant is a bit more and longer.  3 weeks might be enough time to mostly recover from your explant surgery, but I would check with your doctors. You may be cutting it too close.  Wishing you the best of health.

3 weeks should be fine. While DVT is an uncommon complication, it is a risk of EVLT. Surgery/general anesthesia also have a slight risk of DVT so we like to avoid "stacking risks". Having said that, if you are up and walking and able to stay active then you should be fine to proceed with your vein ablations/EVLT.
