My lateral incisors are smaller than the rest of my teeth. What should I do about it?

There are certain dimensions that are normal, while some patients think their situation is ABnormal.  Height and width proportions have "normal" percentages, yet beauty is in the eye of the beholder so the patient may want to "overrule" the norm.  Some people prefer shorter laterals, some do not.  The vast majority of my veneer cases have shorter laterals similar to the photo you share.  Perhaps not AS short, but certainly shorter.  The best three options in this case are to orthodontically extrude the laterals, 2 porcelain veneers to add length to the two laterals (which is very difficult to match in color and texture PERFECTLY) or a complete smile of porcelain veneers (8-10 teeth is the average number treated when doing this kind of esthetic treatment).  Bonded composite will not likely last very long and is not color stable long term. There are many dentists and others that would say your smile is perfect and within the Golden Proportions and smile design.  Also, beware of any dentist suggesting to shorten the centrals, as the result would be very square looking teeth and risk of exposing sensitive dentin.

It is normal for lateral incisors to be smaller than central incisors, though yours have a significant difference.  Bonded material or even porcelain can be used to lengthen your teeth if it continues to bother you.  I think they look fine but dental esthetics is a very personal thing and you have to be happy with the looks of your teeth.  See what the dentist says.  He could even add some composite to your teeth as a mock up to see what they would look like longer.  This can easily be removed.  That way you get a chance to see if you would like it without really altering anything.  Good luck!
