After 1 year, I've finally completed my implant process on my front tooth. (Yay!!!) Will my gums grow down over the crown? Or am I doomed to have this HUGE front tooth that is fully exposed?!?
Answer: Implant crown Hi, I do see that you have lost quite a bit of bone and gum tissue around your implant causing you to appear as if you have a very big tooth. I admit that it doesn't look very good. If your smile is as you depict in your picture, then this will not show when you smile. In other words you have a low smile line. If you had a high smile line then you would show a lot of gum and this would be a greater problem. You can have the crown remade to add pink tissue to a new crown. This would simulate gum tissue. This is hard to do and you need to have a good lab to match your color of gum tissue. If not done correctly it can look like a wad of chewing gum stuck to your teeth. In short, if you have a low smile line then don't worry about the variation in gum height as it doesn't show. Unfortunately it can't be easily corrected.

Answer: Dental Implants Rarely do gums grow over the junction of the crown/abutment attachment. Good news is that your smile line does not show the exposed area. If this aesthetically is of concern there are ways to conceal the area such as the use of pink porcelain without going through bone and gum grafts.
