I had an extraction today and the dentist put in a graft so that at some point I can get an implant. He did not use stitches and I was wondering if that is normal? He did not explain how I am to care for this and it seems like all the pictures I’ve seen show this with stitches. Should I go back in or is this normal

There are different methods of socket grafting at tooth extraction site.  I usually place one or two dissolvable stitches at a ridge preservation graft like this but it is not always required.   When stitches are used, they are most commonly dissolvable and are gone within a week or two.   Daily salt water rinses are the best way to keep the extraction site clean and heal quickly.   If you have concerns or questions you should always feel comfortable calling your dentist to inquire.
