Can hair follicles or scalp get damaged after getting a haircut with beach sand / salt sitting in your hair?

abhav7
I am a male who recently went to the beach and swam in the water soaked my hair in the water. As I left the beach that night sand, salt, etc from the water was siting in my hair. The next morning I went to take a shower and did not shampoo my hair just used water to rinse it out and let it air dry. Then I went to get a hair cut and my hair was still rough sticky and sandy, salty from the beach. While the barber was cutting it was very tough and there was a lot of tugging pulling, breakage.
