Brain CT a year after doing thread lift, am I allowed to get one with the metal that was inserted?

Hello, A year ago i did a thread lift in the brows area, now i have an appoitment to a brain CT test )checking migrans( they told me to take of any metal accessories like earings,necklecess etc i also know that part of the tread lift procedure is inserting a small metal board. Am i allowed to do the brain CT ?

Hi and thank you for your question! You should definitely discuss this with the facility that will be doing the CT scan and get clearance from their doctor, but in general, we are concerned with metal implants when doing MRI (given the strong magnetic field) while CT scans are generally safe with metal implants (although the implants will most likely be radiopaque, blocking the view of whatever is below or above it). Thank you for your question. Typically, we use a needle to insert the threads so that should not affect your CT. Please check with your provider. For more information, I recommend getting a in person consultation from a board-certified dermatologist.

Hi,
Thread lifts use a needle to introduce the thread, but the needle is removed and no metal is left behind. Additionally, metal is contraindicated in MRI scans, not CT scans.
