Question

How many settings it will take to get result ? My doctor used 1.5 mm Dermaroller with PRP before 3 weeks back and next will be on 3rd October. This would be my second treatment. Please give suggestions.

Hello thanks for your question. You seem to have deep acne scars and will require atleast 6-8 sessions of derma roller 30-45 days apart to see results. Micro needling with prp will also help. Meet a board certified plastic surgeon for evaluation and discussing your options. Good luck.

Microneedling- skin needling and PRP can provide acne scar improvements however for the best results, one should target the acne scar type with ideal treatments and not just one device. The web reference below will take you to a resource to help you understand acne scar revision at a specialist level. I embedded all the videos in one page to help.
For example deep ice pick scars, and narrow box car scars can be treated with TCA CROSS peels, mixed scars, rolling, and atrophic scars treated with fractional devices such as Fraxel, fractional lasers, PRP and INFINI –Intensif radiofrequency. Atrophic scars (depressions) can be treated with either fat grafts, or with HA dermal fillers. Tethered and anchored scars are best treated with surgical techniques such as subcision. Other surgical techniques that we use include punch elevation, surgical elevation, punch excision and traditional excision of focal scars. Early and very mild acne scars respond well to eMatrix and non-energy microneedling, as well as vascular lasers. 
  
 
  
The majority of patients will have a collection of different scar types, and hence a tailored treatment METHOD will be best. Careful examination, especially under angled lighting with scar mapping will give you an understanding of what are the best options for your scars. Additionally tactile examination or touch will give us an understanding of the amount of subdermal fibrosis, as special equipment is needed for this sub-set of acne scars.  In the majority of patients its finding the correct combination that give you best results, and everyone is unique! Hi tusharbajaj,It would have been better if you included your "before" photo. This way, we could see if there was any improvement. You can have microneedling with PRP a month after your first session and it may take upto 6 sessions to really see the full effects of the treatment. However, in your case, the acne scars seem to be deep and numerous. Improvement may not be as you expected.I would suggest a deep chemical peel and different treatments for your various scar types.Deep pinprick scars cab be addressed with TCA Cross and Bellafill. Other scars like boxcar and rolling scars can be treated with fillers or in scar revision.Remember to be patient. Fraxel could have worked for scars like yours but unfortunately, you are not a good candidate for it.All the best,Justin Harper, M.D.
