These things can happen and your surgeon did a great job; it's just that we can't predict how things are going to heal. This happens to me on occasion too; it happens to all surgeons. Unfortunately, to actually fix this issue correctly you will need patience. At 6 months, you are not done healing and your skin is likely too tight to manipulate in a way that will narrow and deepen the aperture of your belly button. Once things have loosened up, and that is likely going to be a year or more, a rather involved surgery will be necessary to release surrounding skin so that these changes can occur. A word of note: trial and error (and extensive experience reducing areolar diameter in the breast) has informed me that skin won't allow a surgeon to reliably or durably reduce the diameter in a circumferential pattern, and hence maintain a circular scar around the belly button. Instead, a more stable vertical excision must be performed to maintain the diameter and shape of the belly button. An example of this can be seen on my social media page that sounds like Graham.

You would definitely benefit of smaller BB! That is not always easy to do since there is no exact pattern to so. It would be best to start with your plastic surgeon and discuss your options. Good luck.

it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations.
