I was told I have a wide rib cage, which is what causes me to have a gap between my breasts. I am fine with my gap but would like a good deal of upper pole fullness. (I am having a full lift done, also). Does having a wide rib cage limit profile options/amount of upper pole fullness?
Answer: Breast implants Breast implants are sized according to their volume in cubic centimeters (cc). How do you know what size implant to choose? Looking at pictures and talking to friends who had a breast augmentation might help. Off course the volume will depend on the shape and size of your actual breasts, your frame and the size you want to achieve. Our plastic surgeon will advise you thoroughly. Bringing pictures of a desired restult to be shown to our surgeon, might be very helpful.

Answer: Implants A wider breast base gives more options of profiles that can be used. It is best determined by what size volume of implant you choose. Your surgeon should be able to decide which profile is best once the volume is selected.

Answer: Implant profile options for wide rib cage? Hello, And thank you for the question. In patients who have wide sternum/rib cage, placing the implant under the muscle may not achieve full cleavage in the middle because the rib cage will limit how far towards the middle the surgeon can place the implant, since the muscle attaches to the sternum. Adding breast implant will certainly add nice upper pole fullness, and combining with breast lift, can help achieve and more lifted and fuller breast shape. I would seek an in-person evaluation by the Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon, in order to discuss your goals and concerns for the best cosmetic results. I hope this helps.Best regards, Dr. Karanetz Dr. Irena KaranetzFellowship-TrainedBoard Certified Plastic Surgeon

Answer: Bellesoma Lift If you have a wide gap between your breasts then the technique I recommend is The Bellesoma Method. This will reshape your breast tissue creating upper pole fullness without implants, elevate them higher on the chest wall and more medial to increase your cleavage. Vertical scars are avoided, nipple sensation (in 95%) and the ability to breast feed are maintained. Later, fat transfers can be performed if additional volume is desired. Implants are not lifetime devices. 8% fail within the first year and 30% fail within six years. Fat transfers are permanent and incorporated into the body. Best Wishes, Gary Horndeski, M.D.

Answer: Choosing the right size and profile breast implants for you- rib cage might not be a factor After I measure and discuss goals with my patients, we then look at pictures of women (my patients) with similar measurements with different size and style breast implants. They also get to see what they would look like when the breasts have fully dropped and fluffed and in clothes. You get to see actual results and the surgeon's experience and not a virtual idea of what can be achieved. Women tell me that this process is very helpful in determining what size and style breast implant is right for them. Dr. Ted Eisenberg, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and Author.
