I had PRK a month ago now. I was to do steroid drops 4 times a day for a week, 3 times a day for a week, 2 times a day for week and once a day for a week. The first day with no steroid drops I was horribly light sensitive and sore. I went to the dr today and was told I have inhflammation and to use steroid drops every hour for 3 days, then 4 times a day for a week. What is causing the inflammation and how worried do I need to be???

Ghosting one month after PRK can be
caused by many things. Most
commonly would be residual refractive error, ie some remaining astigmatism. This can be easily measured by your
doctor. If this is the case,
typically surgeons wait 3-6 months to retreat with more PRK.

Eight days is far too soon to know

Sunlight (UV) exposure after PRK can

fine to go outside in the sun, but I’d recommend you wear UV-protecting
sunglasses for at least 3-6 months.
Additionally, there is evidence vitamin C can help reduce the risk of UV
associated corneal haze post PRK.
