Plasma pen administration - is it normal to go around the wrinkles instead of directly in? (Photo)

I had the plasma pen done and noticed she went around all of my deep wrinkles instead of directly in the wrinkle. Is this proper procedure? I couldnt find anything online and she told me that is how she was trained. I was under the impression it was to treat the wrinkles directly
