It’s crucial to understand that Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty (ESG) is not a gold-standard procedure for weight loss. It is not covered by insurance because it lacks long-term, proven effectiveness. Unlike ESG, the Mini Sleeve is a true surgical solution that delivers significantly better outcomes. 
I strongly advise against seeking weight loss procedures from a gastroenterologist, as their scope is limited to endoscopic options and does not include comprehensive bariatric surgical solutions. Instead, consult with a board-certified bariatric surgeon who is trained in all available options and can provide an honest assessment of what will work best for you.
