When does hyperpigmentation appear after laser hair removal?

Would you notice immediately after the treatment that you will have hyperpigmentation or does it develop days to weeks after treatment?

The development of hyperpigmentation after a treatment can vary depending on the specific treatment and individual factors. In some cases, hyperpigmentation may be noticeable immediately following the treatment, while in other cases, it may develop over the course of days to weeks.

For certain treatments, such as chemical peels or laser procedures, immediate hyperpigmentation is less common and the skin may initially appear red or irritated. However, in the days or weeks following the treatment, hyperpigmentation can emerge as a result of the skin's healing response.

On the other hand, certain treatments or topical medications may cause immediate darkening or discoloration of the skin as a side effect, known as post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH). This can occur shortly after the treatment or application.

Hello and thank you for your question. It depends on one's skin and type of treatment if hyperpigmentation appears or not. Usually after laser hair removal, the skin shows immediate signs of redness or irritation. If hyperpigmentation shows up it can be days or weeks after the procedure. Best of luck to you.
