Will my permanent crown be better than the temp? (photos)

Question

I just had a root canal and a temporary crown placed. The crown is small. It juts out a bit but is significantly smaller than my tooth was. I feel like there is a hole/gap on my teeth. There is a gap between my upper and lower teeth now. I’m devastated. It looks and feels terrible. Will the permanent one be the correct size?

You need get in contact with your dentist to check it because is not the normal for a crown.

No worries. Your permanent crown should look more normal with normal anatomy/shape/size. Just make sure you communicate with your dentist on your concerns, but I’m sure your final crown will look much better than your temp crown.

HI There,I so understand your concern!  The good news is that the provisional or temporary tooth (if you have one) is not automatically a blueprint for the final crown. No dental lab would fabricate what you are showing in the photos as a final solution for that root canaled tooth.  That being said, since there is no real clarity on what else is going on in your mouth, or how your bite functions, or any other factors that can only be seen in person, clinically, I would check in with your dental office and ask how come your teeth looks this way.  Given there was not much communication, ie, the dental staff there did not tell you your tooth would look like this, be sure when you get your crown that you ask to see it, look in different lights, go into bathroom and even to window or outside to verify color match BEFORE it is cemented into place.   You will have a lot less recourse if you get home and it is permanently cemented and you don't like it then.  Good luck!
