At age 32 I decided to fix my overbite. The orthodontist I went to suggested the herbst appliance along with braces. I wore the herbst for 12 months and continued the braces for another 15 months. The over bite was corrected by 70%, but now my temples and eyes are sunken and my cheek bones stick out like skelator. I have not lost weight, I am actually a little heavier, so I know this isn't it. Did the herbst cause this? Is there any way to correct this strange ugly look? I am so unhappy.
