How long do I have to wait to go to the beach after having a session of laser hair removal (Soprano ICE from Alma)?

I have read that we can do Soprano ICE all year round so I bought a voucher for 6 session. Then the beauty therapist told me I can't tan 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after the session - it didn't make sense as this makes 4 weeks, which is the amount of time in-between sessions. Is she wrong? Or is Alma selling something that is actually not real?

Yes you need to stay out of the sun 2 weeks prior, because the laser makes your skin photo sensitive and 2 weeks after because you could burn if you are tan.

You're right two weeks is pretty standard.  However, if you're going to get another treatment you may want to wait until your series has finished.  Laser hair removal works best when the skin is devoid of color as much as possible.Always use sunblock and stay covered up as much as you can until the sun goes down.

Thank you for your question. I agree with your therapist. I would advise against tanning for at least 2 weeks after receiving your laser treatment. Please make sure you seek treatment from a board-certified dermatologist.

HiThanks for your question.Yes this is correct. Reason being the laser can make your skin more sensitive to the sun so to avoid burning  it is advised to avoid direct sunlight for two weeks after treatment.  Also an SPF of at least 30 should be worn daily on any exposed areas.Kind regards

Laser hair removal traumatizes the skin even though it rarely hurts or burns after treatment.  Sun exposure after treatment is more problematic than before.  I suggest two weeks, sunblock and shirt to avoid excess exposure.  Get your laser hair removal done by May if you like sun on your body for more that 20 minutes at a time.  Remember sun damages more than the surface of your skin; it degrades the collagen within the skin causing aging and a variety of skin cancers.  All the best, Alexis Parker MD
