Lapband problems? Episode/vomiting food w/ black stuff, then vomiting black phlegm. Lasted 6 hours, vomited 10 times/more.

Question

Had band for 6/7 years. No problems till 6/2016. Vomiting so bad till blood then couldn't even drink fluids. Went to ER, did test,no slippage. Dr removed some fluid, did better so put more fluid back in band. Started same sypmtoms. Removed more fluid. Dr. did removal fluid/fluid back in 2 times. Finally took all fluids out. Did better, started gaining weight but could tell still couldn't eat certain foods/some vomiting. The episode explained above happened about 2 months after took all fluid out.

You should have your x rays read by a bariatric surgeon.  I find that ER docs and even radiologist can miss a band slippage if they are not familiar with the band.  Your symptoms are suggestive of a band slippage.  Slipped band are very difficult to adjust, and very little fluid in the band can still cause vomiting and difficulty swallowing.  Get a copy of your x rays and consult with a bariatric surgeon in your area.

Hello For diagnosis you must visit a bariatric surgeon or gastroenterology.These symptoms may be occurring for several reasons as gastric ulcer, erosion or any other,you need to some test like upper endoscopy or other required.Good luck !Dr. Pablo
