Would Lasik residual prescription (-0.50 D and - 0.25 astigmatism) on my dominant eye be worth a PRK enhancement?

45 yr-old had Lasik monovision 1.5 year ago. Left eye was left -1.25 on purpose. Dominant right eye was undercorrected by -0.50 and -0.25 astigmatism. Distance vision is a bit weak. However I also noticed closeup vision reduction when trying contact to fully correct right eye. My dr can do PRK enhancement on right eye (not lasik). I'd like a second opinion: 1. Is it worthwhile to get PRK to fully correct my right eye? 2. Would it be possible to get PRK only correct half prescription of right eye eg. 0.3?

1. It depends on the visual acuity of the right eye. Some patients can still see well with that amount of leftover prescription while others can be reduced a few lines. 2. It is definitely possible to correct just 0.3D, but not recommended. It is a low yield procedure since the healing period is long and can be uncomfortable.

If you successfully correct the right eye your distance will be better but near will be weaker.I don't think a surface ablation of .3D is worth the whole effort but each person is different. Try a -.5 contact in your dominant eye and go about your day in it. If you love it then you have your answer. If you are not wowed then just stay put.
