What does the medication situation look like for a typical silicone breast implant surgery-lets say under muscle, aereola incision? Are antibiotics always given before the surgery and/or after? I'm pretty concerned about medications given I've never been on anything stronger than excedrin. Not sure how my small frame will take it (5'7" 104 pounds).

Answer: Medications for Breast Augmentation Thank you for your question. The only medicine that is absolutely necessary after breast augmentation surgery is pain medication. Most surgeons use a combination of Tylenol with a narcotic like Percocet, Vicodin, or Nucynta. These can cause nausea, so you may need an anti nausea medicine. They may also cause constipation so a stool softener and fiber is helpful. One dose of antibiotics at the time of surgery is standard, but not usually after surgery. You should do fine with medications. Best wishes.

Answer: Medication after augmentation Many Plastic Surgeons will give you a prescription for 3-5 days of antibiotics after Breast Augmentation. You will also get a prescription for a narcotic like Percocet or Vicoden to take for pain. You should only need this for a few days after the procedure. You most likely will also receive a prescription for an anti nausea medicine.
