Think of steel girders that hold up a building. The teeth provide support for the lips and cheeks as supporting architecture in much the same way. If they are gone you have no support, and collapse will occur as it has in your photo. If the underlying architecture of your teeth are replaced, you will reestablish support of the lips and cheeks. The area under your eye is not directly supported by the teeth, but you may be surprised with their appearance once the missing teeth have been treated with implants and a prosthesis to re-support the cheeks.Bon Chance!Douglas E. Hi:Unfortunalely without photos of your smile it is difficult to give you accurate advice. Generally if the missing teeth that are contributing to the facial collapse are replaced there is a reversal of the collapse.Best,Dr. Maddahi
Hi: Sorry to hear about your pain. Unfortunately with out xrays it is difficult to give you accurate advice. My suggestion is to get a 3D scan to really make sure the bone around the implant and the surrounding teeth is healthy. Best, Dr. Maddahi
Hi: With implants just like teeth not only you have to brush your teeth at least twice a day, you also have to floss and get professional cleaning at least every 6 months. Any time you feel uncomfortable you can get a second opinion, however, everything sounds right. Best, Dr. Maddahi
Hi, it appears that your implant is losing bone on the inside area and that the threads are showing. Unfortunately, this makes your implant very difficult to clean and can lead to increased risk of gum infection. I would suggest you see a specialist (periodontist) for a second opinion.
