Thank you for your question. With Pico lasers tattoos can be removed faster and safer then older laser systems. There is less risks of scarring and hyper/hypo pigmentation. My preference for black ink is the PiQo4 laser which has 4 Pico wavelengths including 1064 for black. Tattoo removal is still a process with these advanced technologies and will require multiple sessions. Dr. Daniel Ritacca

It appears that the tattoo is only one color, black.  Black ink has the best response to laser tattoo removal.  The latest technology for laser tattoo removal is Pico-Second technology. The PicoWay Laser (Candela/Syneron) uses photoacoustic
impact/pressure waves rather than photothermal/heat.This process has less heat, therefore it is
more comfortable and the chances of hyperpigmentation are less.The Pico-second pulse shatters the ink into
even smaller particles, allowing the body to more easily absorb the ink. This technology has less heat associated with the treatment, therefore less chances of hyperpigmentation and hypopigmentation. You can check in your area to see if tis type of device is available. Ink removal can be done in about half as many treatments as the traditional Q-switch devices.Good Luck!
