My upper lip is red after laser hair removal

I have had many treatments for laser hair removal however the last one was over 9 months ago. I have noticed that on my upper lip I have permanent redness. It isn't bumpy, itchy, or painful. Will this redness ever go away? Is there something I can do to reduce or eliminate the discoloration?

Laser hair removal cant make a hairline recede in a single treatment.  PRP, progesterone, and latisse can all help if you are thinning there.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Are sebaceous glands intact after hair follicles are destroyed by laser hair removal?

If the hair follicle is damaged often the sebaceous glad is intact but some do resorb or decrease activity as well. Please see an expert for treatment. Best, Dr. Emer

Hi Darvish. We do not recommend IPL for laser hair removal.  It is neither as safe nor as effective as laser treatments.  Depending on your skin type, we would suggest Alexandrite or Diode (Caucasians - Asians) or Yag (African skin).IPL may be cheap as it is often faster, but it will result in m...

These should first be treated with silicone based and petrolatum based ointments with growth factors.  Once healed you should use vitamin C and hydroquinone to prevent hyperpigmentation. Please see an MD trained in lasers and burns.  Best, Dr. Emer.
