Hey I have big bad butt acne scars. How can I get rid of them? Can I use tretinoin on it ?
Answer: Subcision For Elevating & Smoothing Indented Acne Scars When it comes to acne scars, tretinoin is generally fine for maintenance, once appropriate treatment of the scars have been performed. Putting aside all the marketing hype and social media buzz surrounding this or that, expensive, so-called "energy-based" gizmos out there, like fraxel lasers and RF microneedling devices, simple, relatively inexpensive subcision, whiich I have personally been using since 1995, has a long track record for safety and efficacy for elevating and smoothing all kinds of indentations, whether from acne scars anywhere on the body or cellulite, etc.. You would be wise to consult with an experienced, board certified cosmetic dermatologist and best of luck.

Answer: Treatment Options for Acne Scars on the Buttocks Tretinoin is indeed an option for treating acne scars. It's a topical retinoid that promotes skin cell turnover, which can help to reduce the appearance of scars over time. However, it's best to start with a low concentration and gradually increase it under medical supervision, as tretinoin can cause side effects such as skin irritation and increased sensitivity to sunlight. In addition to tretinoin, other topical treatments such as azelaic acid and salicylic acid can also be effective in reducing the appearance of acne scars. For more pronounced scars, procedures such as chemical peels, laser therapy, or microdermabrasion might be considered. These treatments can help to reduce the depth and visibility of scars, but they should be performed by a trained professional. It's also important to keep the skin clean and moisturized, avoid picking or scratching at the scars, and protect the skin from the sun, as sun exposure can darken scars and make them more noticeable.
