I am 5ft 10, 28 years old and weigh 145 pounds. I have a breast width of 14cm and currently wear a 36A or 34B bra. I have had one child and breastfed him. During this time my bra size increased to a 36C but I have been left with lack of volume in the top of my breasts. I am not seeking the 'natural look' by I also don't want to look heavily augmented, somewhere in the middle would be nice. I want large breasts to balance out my pear shape.many thanks for your advice in advance

Answer: Picking the right implant Thank you for your question. You present with the same concern that patients come to me with on nearly a daily basis. They have breast fed and are now looking to restore their breasts. Breast implants are definitely the way to go to restore lost volume associated with having kids.Picking the right implant is an important decision. This is what I recommend to do during your consultation: 1.Bring goal photographs to demonstrate potential size and shape. This gives your surgeon an idea of “the look” you are going after.2.Trying on sizers in the office. Sizer will give a physical/PALPABLE demonstration of how the implants will change the volume of your breasts. See yourself in a full size mirror while trying on these sizers. We have tight fitting t-shirts to wear over the sizers to show how you will look with the implants.3.Using 3D imaging (offered in my office) to provide a VISUAL demonstration of how the implants will change your breasts and the look that you will likely achieve. The software is super cool (CRISALIX) and actually allows me to select the implant manufacturer and size. Be open with your surgeon and it never hurts to go back a second time with a loved one to confirm the implant size before surgery. I hope this helps.-Dr. Bryson Richards (Las Vegas Plastic Surgeon)

Answer: What is the maximum size implant I will be able to have? Thank you for the question. Online consultants will not be able to provide you with specific enough advice to be truly helpful. Ultimately, careful communication of your goals (in my practice I prefer the use of goal pictures, direct examination/communication in front of a full-length mirror, and computer imaging) will be critical. Keep in mind, also that seeking several consultations with board-certified plastic surgeons may be necessary before you find the plastic surgeon who is a "good fit" for you. Generally speaking, the best online advice I can give to ladies who are considering breast augmentation surgery ( regarding breast implant size/profile selection) is: 1. Concentrate on choosing your plastic surgeon carefully. Concentrate on appropriate training, certification, and the ability of the plastic surgeon to achieve the results you are looking for. Ask to see lots of examples of his/her work. 2. Have a full discussion and communication regarding your desired goals with your plastic surgeon. This communication will be critical in determining breast implant size/type/profile will most likely help achieve your goals. In my practice, the use of photographs of “goal” pictures (and breasts that are too big or too small) is very helpful. For example, I have found that the use of words such as “natural look” or "C or D cup” or "somewhere in the middle" etc means different things to different people and therefore prove unhelpful. Also, as you know, cup size varies depending on him who makes the bra; therefore, discussing desired cup size may also be inaccurate. Again, the use of computer imaging has been very helpful during the communication process, in our practice. 3. Once you feel you have communicated your goals clearly, allow your plastic surgeon to use his/her years of experience/judgment to choose the breast implant size/profile that will best meet your goals. Again, in my practice, this decision is usually made during surgery, after the use of temporary intraoperative sizers. Personally, I find it most beneficial to have a wide range of breast implant types, sizes, and profiles available. I hope this (and the attached link, dedicated to breast augmentation surgery concerns) helps. Best wishes for an outcome that you will be very pleased with.
