I had sinus lift with bone graft. Two implants were placed at the same time - one on 25 (which didn't need bone graft) and 26. After the surgery my face was very swollen and severely bruised. One month later there is a hard lump above tooth 25 next to my nose which is changing the shape of my face and alters my smile. There is no pain and my nasal passages seem clear. Is this normal and will this lump go down? The dentist said he had to place extra bone than originally planned. Could this be the cause?

Hi! After a small surgery like an implant, usually the tissue heals very fast. Having no pain after 7 days is exactly how it should feel. On the picture I can´t see any signs of infection: red color on gums, bleeding, pain and pus. Stitches seem to be thick so probably the smell must come ...
Many times the denture needs to be relined to fit the tissue better and the o-rings need to be replaced.Sometimes its best to add additional implants to help stabilize the denture and achieve a more secure fit.
Yes it is possible to have no stitches after having implants placed. Usually in this case, a punch incision is made. After the implant is placed, a healing abutment is used to shape the surrounding gum tissue.
