I am 20 years old and about 230lbs. Am I considered too young for weight loss surgery or am I eligible?

No you are definitely not too young for weight loss surgery.  Most bariatric surgery programs operate on patients that are 18 years or older.  We actually even have an adolescent program at one of our hospitals and operate inpatients as young as 15.  I strongly recommend considering bariatric surgeons when you are younger so you can enjoy the benefits of the surgery for most of your life.  You will live a healthier and longer life after weight loss (bariatric) surgery.  You should find a surgeon with a lot of experience.  Good luck on your weight loss journey.Shawn Garber, MD FACS FASMBS

Hello. When you lose weight at your age is better cause probably you still not have diseases or related conditions of obesity.
