PRK surgery - pain behind eyes and forehead.

Question

Hi, I had PRK laser eye surgery and it has been 6 weeks. My vision is great but my only concern is after working on the computer for few hours I get pain behind my eyes and forehead sought of like eye strain. Never experienced this pain when I had glasses. Prescription was -6.25 in both eyes. Is this common after PRK surgery that will get better in time? Please advise. Thanks

Glad that your vision is great after PRK!  Sometimes dry eyes from staring at the computer can make the eyes feel strained and tired.  How old are you?  PRK is usually done to correct distance vision, so you may require a small reading correction for up close or for the computer.  Let your eye surgeon know about your concerns so that they can recommend the right treatment.  Get well soon!

From the sounds of your symptoms it appears that you are experiencing eye strain very reminiscent of presbyopia. This is a condition that occurs as we age making near visual tasks difficult to perform. Occasionally, such symptoms may be unmasked after near sighted prescriptions are treated. You may require a reading aid when on the computer. There is new technology on the horizon called s Kamra corneal inlay which holds promise for near vision correction for patients such as yourself.
