Do I have to stop sucking my fingers to get Braces?

Thumb sucking, much like Bruxism (grinding of teeth), can affect the shape of your teeth and the alignment of your smile. It's not always easy to stop these habits as they happen when we are asleep so we're often not aware of them but like night guards can help you stop grinding your teeth and doing damage to them while you sleep, looking at options to deter thumb sucking can be helpful, too.  Thumb sucking could be counterproductive for braces or other orthodontic appliances.  Thumb /finger guards and gloves can be very helpful.
