Should I get my teeth whitened by a professional before getting my braces put on? (photo)

I have a uneven arch on my top row and an overbite. I am only expecting to have my braces on for about a year in a half. My teeth aren't their whitest unfortunately. Should I opt to have them professionally whitened before having my braces put on? Or is this something my orthodontist will take care of?

Thanks for submitting your question. Although it is certainly not a rule, however after orthodontics one may opt to have whitening done to enhance the smile and color of the teeth. Since whitening is a different procedure than orthodontics, you may choose to discuss that with your dentist, or your orthodontist may offer it to you!
