Is constant diarrhea normal after gastric sleeve surgery?

I have had patients with similar symptoms.  Most of the times the diarrhea came on after drinking milk or milk products.  These symptoms tend to improve and disappear with time.  However, I agree with Dr. Simpson, there is a bacteria that you can get in the hospital call C.Diff.  This bacteria can be associated with diarrhea, abdominal pain and some times fever.  It is treated with antibiotics and eating yogurt with live cultures like Activia.  Check with your surgeon.  I have a feeling this is going to go away by itself once you start on a solid diet.   

Your surgeon generally knows best.  But if you have nothing but liquids in you will get only liquids out. If you drink enough you will have liquid stools. Sometimes you won't have even liquid stools.  On occasion there is a bacteria you can get after surgery. Avoid anything with dairy in it for a while. If you keep having issues then you may need to go in for an evaluation
