Does scalp atrophy caused by steroid injection for alopecia areata ever comes back to normal? This atrophy affects the hair growth around the areas which now have atrophy?

Hello and thank you for your question.  The tissue can come back to normal after a steroid injection, it just takes a while to recover. I hope this helps.

Hello I'm Dr. Wipawan Vathananai, a co-worker of Dr. Kulakarn Amonpattana, from BHI Clinic, Bangkok, Thailand. It takes very long time for the tissue to recover from steroid-induced atrophy. From my experience, the hair around can still grow pretty normally.
