Is it possible to get your braces in Mexico but then have a local orthodontist make the adjustments?

John,In my experience, when a patient gets braces placed by one orthodontist and has to be finished by another, the treatment actually is more expensive to complete. Usually we see this occur when a patient has to move for work, family, etc. Many times the orthodontist who takes over the case is not familiar with the braces that are placed by the other orthodontist, so he/she would have to remove the braces and place new ones (an additional cost). Also the case inevitably takes longer to complete. Usually, these transfer cases end up costing the patient 10-20% more than if they continued with the same orthodontist throughout treatment. My suggestion would be to find an orthodontist in BC that you trust and know will be able to monitor you through the entire course of treatment.

In an effort to save money, many people find that complicating care often costs MORE.  While the question is CAN it be done, the real question is will anyone DO it?  It will be difficult to find any dentist or orthodontist to simply take over a case, and often costs more to do so.
