What route do you recommend? Would excision be an option? this is causing so much anxiety at a time when I just want to be enjoying the birth of my new child.

Salabrasion is not a reliable method for tattoo removal. It also carries a high risk of scarring that cannot be minimized. Spreading of ink within the body causing problems, other than allergy, (if you are allergic to the ink)  is purely speculative. There has never been a confirmed report...

If the correct laser and setting is used you should not get any skin discoloration.You should go back to your doctor any consider a different type of laser.  You would be a great candidate for the Alex Trivantage laser. This laser is the only one on the market that can target colors.
