The time required for recovery following a breast reduction varies a good deal among patients. The inflammation and swelling normally take at least 6 weeks to reduce to a point that the breast starts to feel soft and natural. The amount of time you need to recover from BR will depend on your natural healing rate as well as the extent of surgery performed. After two or three months, you should more or less be able to see your final results noting little discomfort or tenderness. However, subtle changes may continue up to 12 months. Recovery varies from patient to patient but at this point of your recovery you should be noticing an increasing improvement in your discomfort. Best to arrange a review with your surgeon.
Hello and thank you for your excellent question. Congratulations on your surgery! I hope you are pleased with the results! At this point, your pain should be gradually improving. It is not unusual to have some discomfort, even at four weeks postop. If you have any concerns, I suggest that you follow up with your surgeon. Good luck!Best, Jon Ver Halen, MD FACS Harvard educated plastic surgeon Texas “Top Doc”

Following breast reduction/lift, I typically recommend waiting 6 weeks before doing any heavy lifting that could cause opening of the incisions. At about 6 weeks postop, your incisions will be about 80% of their final tensile strength and can withstand the force of heavy weights. I typ...
