Would PRP fix nasolabial folds & jowls?

However, PRP alone is unlikely to significantly lift or volumize areas like deep nasolabial folds. It is important to note that PRP won’t replace lost volume in the midface or provide a structural lift, which is typically what's needed when jowling and folds become more prominent after weight loss.

Alternatively, filler can be used. When it comes to softening nasolabial folds, treating the cheeks is often a key part of the approach. Volume loss in the midface can make these folds appear deeper, so by restoring lift and structure in the cheeks, we can help soften the folds indirectly and naturally. PRP is a blood product that is prepared via a small amount drawn blood from an individual and then centrifugation to obtain a highly concentrated preparation of platelets. Initially this product was used to treat sites of injury and painful joints but the indications have been broadened and PRP is now also used to help healing after surgery, improve/restore hair growth, and improve the quality of skin collagen, in essence returning the skin to its more "youthful" state.The mechanism of action is not fully understood. One of the hypotheses is thought to be that the platelets undergo degranulation to release a combination of growth factors and molecules, which can mediate the proliferation of mesenchymal stem cells and increase matrix synthesis and collagen formation. This proces (outside of some swelling) is not thought to add substantial volume. I do nor believe that PRP will provide much of a "lift" that you are looking for.As always, I recommend that you seek consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon.
