How long should you wait to eat solid foods after getting tooth extracted?

I got a tooth pulled 5 days ago and I have been paranoid to eat any solid foods for fear of getting anything stuck inside the hole were the tooth was and getting an infection or developing dry socket which I read online is the worst thing you can get. I'm really hungry and haven't eaten anything thing solid only soft stuff like jello, pudding and mashed potatoes. Should 5 days be enough time to eat things like lunch meat, meatloaf or even pizza? I'm really tired of eating the same things.

Hi Grace from Rancho Cucamonga, California!  Your wisdom teeth extractions are fine!  Do not worry!  The white stuff is just scar tissue that has formed to allow the extraction site to heal.  When you have a cut or whatever on the outside of the body, it scabs and gets better...

All looks normal. Be sure to keep it clean, gently. The stitch can fall out, no worries. Glad you are healing well.

You should be able to chew solids at one week out. You may have some tightness in your masseter muscles at this point which is normal post wisdom tooth removal.  By thanksgiving you should be able to enjoy all food groups with absolutely no restrictions!
