Is it harmful to have extra adhesive (used for attachments) on your teeth?

I have 16 attachments. Initially there was tons of extra adhesive on my teeth to the point it was difficult to floss between some of my teeth. I have just started try 2 and still notice a film of adhesive coming off some teeth when I floss. There is adhesive on some teeth that do not have attachments. Is this typical? My next appointment with my orthodontist is in 2 weeks. Do you suggest making an earlier appointment to have this additional adhesive removed?
