The white bulbs at the end of a hair is likely sebum a waxy substance made from your oil glad.  It is not related to genetic hair loss or balding.

One of the side effects of using topical minoxidil is dry flakey skin or scalp irritation.  See your doctor for an exam to make sure this is not something else.

Alopicia Areata or low testosterone?

Alopecia areata has a certain pattern.  Genetic androgenic alopeica due to DHT (a byproduct of testosterone) also has a certain pattern.  If you think you have both (it can happen), ask your doctor.

Drugs can cause hair loss.  Sometimes birth control pills can cause hair loss.  However, it may not be the drug (birth control) that is causing the hair loss.  You need an examination to rule out other causes for hair loss.

You need to discuss this with your Ob/Gyn doctor.  There is no absolute rule. Minoxidil is a Category C drug.  Which means:  "Animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in humans, but...

Usually 6 weeks is early to expect results from Minoxidil 5%, two times a day? For hair loss in the scalp and beard.

It usually takes 6+ months to see results after starting Minoxidil 5%.  Some may see early results but that is rare.  Sometimes it actually takes longer than 6 months to see results.
