Is it normal to have a dull ache 1 week after having a temporary crown put in? (photo)

Two weeks ago I got a root canal done on tooth # 13. One week ago I got a temporary crown put on. Starting two days ago I started to have a dull ache pain on my lower jaw and cheekbone. It only happens when I am laying down. The gum looks a little purple. Is that normal? Is having pain one week after getting a temporary crown put in normal? It didn’t hurt the days after I got it, the dull ache has kept me up last night. My next appointment is not until next week. Does everything look okay?

It is normal to have a dull ache with a temporary crown. The margins are not sealed properly with a temporary and because of the work that has been done, tooth can be sensitive up to 2 weeks. Always discuss your issues with your dentist before your permanent crown is cemented.

Your Root canal and crown were done on 13 which is left upper back tooth (2nd premolar) but you are saying the pain is in the lower side. Its better to check up with your dentist, 
Just to make you aware. Generally mild to moderate pain lasts after root canal for 2 days immediately after root canal treatment. But it will not start 2 weeks after the treatment. It could be another tooth or the same tooth with an extra canal which is missed by your dentist. Your dentist can assess well with shift radiographs. Generally after placing a temporary crown , if there is no high point then you will not have any pain. But some times there could be space between crown and neighbouring tooth which can lead to food impaction and cause pain in the gums. But this pain is mild and it will not disturb your sleep. 
Kindly check up with your dentist to confirm if an extra canal is missed or problem in some other tooth.
