Is it possible for finasteride or dutasteride to accelerate hairloss in some rare cases due to increased serum testosterone or do they always halt or slow down progression of hair loss?

Sure, it is possible for finasteride and dutasteride to accelerate hair loss in rare instances. They definitely do not help 100 % of males. In rare rare instances they can cause telogen effluvium and rare a scalp dysesthesia issue. They can cause problems in rare instances in mechanisms we really have no idea about. To say it’s all due to high testosterone is a bit of a stretch. That’s far to simple:
