Dental Crown Replacement - what should I do?

Question

I had hot and cold sensitivity in #14 tooth in 2019, so one dentist suggested to do root canal therapy, while an endodontist suggested not to. My current dentist in Jan of 2024 placed a crown to protect it due to hairline cracks for $2k, and he did not see an infection. In March, he had to drill a hole to do root canal due to extreme pain. Now he says that, replacing a crown would do more damage, so let's just fill the existing. He would not charge, but it is my call. What should I do?

Clinical and radiographic exams are performed in order to determine the cause and plan therapy before the endodontic procedures. The root canal procedure is typically completed in one or more appointments. The following are involved in root canal infection treatments:
Taking out the contaminated and broken pulpThe root canal system as a wholeThoroughly cleaning and sanitizing the root canal system.Completing and securing the root canal procedureThe tooth that has to be treated is then sealed off with a rubber dam, which shields the airway from the potent chemical or fine files being used while simultaneously keeping drool out of the mouth during pulpal health management. Can you answer a few questions? Has your pain subsided after the root canal treatment? Can you provide information about the material used for the crown made by your dentist? From what you've described, your crown was perforated for endodontic treatment. After such root canal treatment, considering that the removed tooth structure cannot be fully restored due to the presence of the crown, there is a possibility of future issues (such as tooth decay and bad odor). Therefore, I suggest removing the crown without damaging the tooth, restoring the tooth with composite filling, and then making a new crown. Best wishes
