Can hydroquinone be given to infants?

My 4 month old baby has dark lines near his elbow axila n hip . it started when he was 2mn. Dr has prescribed hydroquinone 4% cream. M applying from two months. Ll it harm my baby? Thought no improvement in his condition.

Although we know hydroquinone can be a safe and effective treatment for adults, its safety has not been established in infants or children. Moreover, hydroquinone is only effective for certain kinds of pigment, and will not treat all dark spots. Babies can develop dark spots on their skin for a variety of reasons. While most of these spots are completely benign, in some rare cases, they can be a sign of other, more serious systemic conditions that can require monitoring and treatment.If you haven't already done so, I would recommend that you get a second opinion from a board-certified pediatric dermatologist, to determine what exactly is causing your baby's dark spots, and what treatment (if any) would be best.
