Corneal thickness is 450 microns. Am I eligible for LASIK?

I'm 25 yrs. I'm having myopia with -6.0 and -5.6 in both eyes, using spectacles around 15 yrs, and my eye power became stable over three yrs. My corneal thickness is 450 microns. Am I eligible for LASIK?

Your pachymetry is clearly low and therefore you would best be treated with PRK rather than LASIK or alternatively with an ICL implant. Also with corneas this thin it would be wise to make sure that you do not have any issues with structural integrity of the cornea. Such factors would be revealed with a pentacam elevation tomography or one of the other technologies designed to evaluate this factor. Patients with abnormal topography and thin corneas are at risk for corneal ectasia, a condition related to corneal weakness with consequent shape abnormality, that can be induced following LVC on abnormal corneas. For many patients with thin corneas we usually offer collagen cross linking treatment at the time of LVC to strengthen the cornea and reduce risk.
