I had PRK 3 months ago, still cannot see clearly. Will it get any better, or is there something else that needs to be done?

Cataract surgery on both eyes 7 months ago, Intraocular lens place-left eye: Model ZXT150 Diopter +23.5D SE 1.50D CYL -touric. Right eye: up grade was more for reading. 4 months later I still was not able to see clearly, PRK done 3 months ago and I still cannot see distance without glasses; reading I need 2.0 readers. No improvement since the start of April. Left is about 20/70ish and right is 20/30-40ish. The goal was no glasses. My eyes are other wise very healthy (age 64).

It is hard to make a recommendation without knowing your corneal thickness, topography, pupil size, and systemic and ocular health. Please schedule a consultation with a refractive surgeon who can make a good assessment based on all of these measurements.

Steroid drops are absolutely necessary after PRK since haziness of the corneal stroma and regression back to the original prescription can result without steroid drop use. If you are concerned, ask your eye doctor to prescribe a well known brand that does not get as well absorbed into the...

Typically vision should be clear enough to drive after 1 week of surgery. It may take up to 3 months for objects to be focused. However, some patients may experience glare, halos, and dryness until 6 months, which may affect quality of vision.

I would recommend applying cold compresses, instead of warm, directly to closed eyelids. This should help with swelling, bruising, and discomfort. Since blood vessels constrict in cold temperatures, blood flow is minimized, and swelling will be reduced.

First of all, I would recommend that you return to your PRK doctor, or at least an ophthalmologist or optometrist, rather than urgent care, which are not eye doctors. But getting elbowed should have no long-term effect on your PRK results.

Advanced Surface Ablation is a variation of PRK. I would expect little further change 1.5 years after treatment. Most likely, there is some astigmatism which could be corrected by another treatment. Maybe a second opinion is in order.
