Can an optometrist tell if you have had previous PRK treatment by examining your eyes? Is there scarring or discoloration after?

I have heard that an eye professional can see discoloration or scarring and be able to tell if you have had surgery (PRK) before. However, there is no way to tell a patient has received LASIK.

Typically, you can not tell just by looking with a microscope that a person has had PRK. In most cases, you can't tell just by looking with a microscope that a person has had Lasik either. Testing with topography will reveal the microscopic curvature changes caused by PRK or Lasik.
