Why do I still have myopia after lasik?

Laser correction procedure corrects the number by changing the curvature of the cornea. Multiple factors can influence post operative numbers, these are as follows:1. An incorrect estimate of pre-operative power.2. Humidity and energy level fluctuation on the day of surgery.3. Post-Operative aberrations.4. Tissue remodeling and healing. Please wait for 3 months as sometimes minor numbers do remain. Do as suggested by surgeon and undergo correction procedure.

There can be several reasons for residual myopia after LASIK. One of the more common reasons is "accomodation". This is the eye's ability change focus from far to near - as we get older we lose this ability. Myopes (nearsighted people) can often "over-accomodate" in which case there's still some residual myopia. If this is the case, it's better to see if you can relax the accomodative effort rather than retreating. An easy way to check is to use a cycloplegic drop like cyclopentolate - this blocks the ability to accomodate and if this makes the vision clear then the more appropriate step is to wait until the accomodative effort relaxes. Undercorrection can certainly occur as well - in that case it's better to lift the flap and enhance - a 0.5D enhancement is very easy to perform.
