I want to have orthodontic surgery to move my maxilla forward. What is this procedure called and can it bring out my cheekbones?

i mostly want to give fullness to the middle of my face because i feel my jaw protrudes more than my maxilla and i want to bring a balance to my face. Can bringing forward the maxilla do this to give me a fuller face and bring out my cheekbones? I do not want cheek implants at all in face but a permanent change.

Hi Dianna The surgery you are referring to is called a LeFort I osteotomy. In many cases, cutting the osteotomy high in the area of the zygoma (cheekbone),  can also help accentuate the cheekbones. If this is not appropriate in your case, freeze-dried cartilage graft can also be used. I have also done Juvet arm augmentation after the healing. To accentuate cheekbones as well. Preoperative computer imaging is also very helpful in obtaining a satisfactory postoperative result.Every case is different and I would advise you to discuss this at length with your surgeon before the procedure. As always, make sure that you choose a surgeon who is very experienced in orthognathic surgery and preferably one who is board certified in oral and maxillofacial surgery.
